Garbage In, Garbage Out – The Challenges of Cleaning Up Your Data

ISS Solutions helped a large New York City-based academic medical center that was struggling with poor-quality CMMS data across more than 100,000 medical assets and 300+ locations. The health system needed to replace its outdated maintenance system and standardize data across multiple hospitals, but inconsistent manufacturer names, models, device types, and location naming made reporting, searches, recalls, and PM planning difficult. The customer selected Nuvolo Connected Workplace for Healthcare as its new CMMS.

To prepare for the migration, ISS Solutions worked with the client’s clinical engineering and IT teams to scrub and standardize over 100,000 records, remove duplicates, normalize naming conventions, map legacy locations, and add UMDNS-based fields for recalls and alerts. ISS Solutions also cleaned the asset data for a newly acquired hospital, synced PM schedules, and supported data import, testing, and training in Nuvolo. The result was a cleaner, more connected data foundation in Nuvolo, enabling more accurate reporting, better alert and recall response, and more balanced maintenance workloads.
