Belen, the regional utility department in Belen, New Mexico, needed a better way to manage utility and municipal payments. Its existing online bill payment system was outdated, slow to scale, and relied heavily on manual clerk input, making it difficult to provide citizens with a seamless payment experience and reduce late payments. Nuvei helped address this with its Government Suite, including Nuvei Bill Pay.
Nuvei implemented a new multilingual, citizen-friendly payment platform with features like multi-property management and walk-in shopping cart functionality. The results were strong: portal registrations increased by 400%, autopay signups rose by 830%, and more than 50% of Belen’s citizens now use Nuvei Bill Pay. The upgrade also improved online adoption and helped reduce in-person and manual payment handling.
