A Nutmeg Productions Case Study
The NHS, the UK's National Health Service, needed to create a series of accessible animations to explain various national screening programmes to its diverse patient population. The challenge was to present complex medical information with clarity and clinical accuracy in a way that would be understandable across different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. They commissioned Nutmeg Productions, an animation agency, to produce these vital resources.
Nutmeg Productions developed a series of eight animations featuring a consistent visual identity and a recurring family of characters to guide patients through different life stages. The films were tested with focus groups for accessibility and then translated into 12 languages. The result is a widely used resource that provides clear and consistent information to patients across the UK, reflecting the successful, long-standing relationship between the NHS and Nutmeg.
