Lloyd’s Register Foundation launches 5-film maritime safety series with Nutmeg Productions

Lloyd’s Register Foundation, a global safety charity and the parent company of maritime classification society Lloyd’s Register, commissioned Nutmeg Productions to create a series of educational films. Their challenge was to explore the complex history of significant maritime safety regulations in a way that was both historically rigorous and genuinely engaging for a wide audience, including viewers with no background in maritime affairs.

Nutmeg developed a visual style built primarily around the client's own historical archive of maps, documents, and records, combining these with stock footage and animation to bring each regulatory story to life. The resulting series of five films made this specialized history accessible to a broad audience, successfully supporting the Foundation's public engagement and educational mission. The production demonstrated Nutmeg’s ability to treat primary archival materials with care while crafting a compelling editorial and visual approach.
