A Nutanix Case Study
Zwanenberg Food Group, a leading European producer of processed meat, faced an ageing, mixed IT estate across its Almelo headquarters and seven production sites: patchy connectivity, partial virtualization on multiple hypervisors, poor performance and reliability, and labour‑intensive tape backups that required staff to travel to remote sites. Public cloud was rejected for core production systems because of connectivity and security risks, creating an urgent need for a secure, on‑premises modernisation.
With partner ICT Partners, Zwanenberg migrated to the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform and adopted the included AHV hypervisor, consolidating ~50 VMs in the datacentre and 8–10 VMs per remote cluster. Automated snapshot replication and Commvault replaced tape backups, centralised management improved uptime and performance, and one rack was removed from HQ. The change reduced licensing and management overhead, freed IT staff for projects, and provided scalable, more reliable infrastructure with headroom for future growth.
