University of Waikato taps hybrid multicloud to transform education

University of Waikato needed a hybrid multicloud strategy to support research data sovereignty, critical on-premises systems, and cloud services like Microsoft Azure and Moodle. The university turned to Nutanix to provide application mobility and simplify management across public, private, and hosted environments, while also future-proofing its infrastructure after deciding to move away from VMware ESXi.

Nutanix helped University of Waikato deploy the Nutanix Cloud Platform in about a week and migrate key production workloads in roughly three months with zero disruption to students or staff. With Nutanix, the university cut its datacenter footprint by 50%, reduced power consumption, lowered IT maintenance overhead, and is preparing to roll out digital desktops that will reduce CAD rendering times from 8 hours to 1 hour and free up space from 1,200 lab computers.
