Unipart Manufacturing Group Re-Energises And Enhances Just-In-Time Manufacturing Systems With Nutanix Cloud Platform And AHV Hypervisor

Unipart Manufacturing Group, a leading automotive parts supplier, needed to modernize its on-premises IT to support just-in-time manufacturing, reduce database latency, and simplify management for a small team. Its end-of-life infrastructure was creating performance and scalability challenges, while downtime or delays could disrupt production across the supply chain. Unipart turned to Nutanix, using the Nutanix Cloud Platform and AHV hypervisor, with help from partner Softcat.

Nutanix implemented a hyperconverged infrastructure with two clusters for production, replication, disaster recovery, backup, and archiving. The migration of 80+ VMs was completed on schedule with no major issues or downtime, database latency was eliminated, and backup time dropped from 24 hours to 90 minutes. Nutanix also enabled virtual CAD desktops for 12 users instead of just 3 specialist workstations, improving flexibility, lowering costs, and making operations much easier to manage.
