UK Hospital Trust Chooses Nutanix To Smooth Cloud First Pathway

Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust needed to replace end-of-life on-premises infrastructure without disrupting its five-year cloud-first plan, while staying within a tight budget and preserving its Microsoft-based environment, including Hyper-V. The Trust selected Nutanix and Nutanix Cloud Platform, along with Prism and Nutanix Metro Availability, to support current hospital workloads and future cloud migration.

Nutanix delivered two 8-node HPE DX clusters, enabling a fast four-day deployment and the migration of more than 350 Hyper-V VMs, 97% of them within 48 hours. The result was a 75% reduction in rack footprint, faster application performance, RAM doubled to 16TB, storage throughput improved from about 5K to over 7K IOPs per cluster, and enough scalable capacity to support the Trust’s growing workload and cloud-first roadmap.
