A Nutanix Case Study
Derby City Council, a UK public sector organization, found that its move to the public cloud was becoming too expensive and difficult because many legacy applications were not suited to cloud hosting. As costs rose and technical issues persisted, the Council needed a more flexible hybrid approach and evaluated several options before choosing Nutanix Enterprise Cloud to support repatriating workloads back on-premise.
Nutanix implemented a 13-node Enterprise Cloud cluster with Prism management, giving Derby City Council cloud-like scalability on infrastructure better matched to its needs. The result was almost all 400+ workloads moved back in house, rack space cut from 17 cabinets to 5, and data centre space costs reduced from £200K to under £37.5K annually, with projected IT savings of around £1.7 million over five years.
