Toyota Motor Deploys Nutanix Cloud Platform to Build 3D CAD Software Design Environment on VDI

Toyota Motor Corporation, seeking to expand its work-from-home program and drive workstyle reform, needed a way to run high‑performance 3D CAD (CATIA) outside the office. The Engineering Design Group relied on powerful GPU/CPU/memory workstations, creating barriers to remote work and generating significant maintenance and procurement overhead, which limited adoption of flexible working practices.

Toyota deployed the Nutanix Cloud Platform (with AOS and Prism), VMware Horizon View and Nutanix Technical Account Manager services to deliver vGPU‑enabled VDI for 3D CAD. The rollout delivered roughly 1,000 virtual desktops in two months, letting engineers work from home seamlessly, improving collaboration by sharing 3D models in meetings, cutting printing and take‑home work, and enabling plans to halve physical workstations and reduce costs while scaling flexibly to future needs.
