Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC), a two‑campus two‑year college in Virginia, was running SQL‑heavy applications like SolarWinds and Adobe Live on aging Dell 815 servers and NetApp storage. The IT team was spending more than an hour each day managing capacity and resource contention and needed a simpler, higher‑performance infrastructure.

TNCC deployed two Nutanix NX‑8035 G4 hyperconverged systems, which delivered dramatically better disk I/O and more than 10× performance improvements for SQL databases, plus built‑in health alerts. Management time fell to essentially zero, upgrades were completed non‑disruptively, and the college is now evaluating further consolidation (VDI, DR and a move to Nutanix AHV).
