A Nutanix Case Study
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania—an internationally recognized business school—faced aging, traditional three-tier infrastructure that caused frequent compatibility issues, outages, and time-consuming SAN firmware updates. Wharton’s small systems team was spending excessive operational hours on storage and compatibility troubleshooting, limiting their ability to launch new services as legacy systems reached end of life.
Wharton deployed seven Dell XC730xd-12 appliances running the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform and uses Nutanix Prism for unified management, migrating 100+ VMs including Exchange, SharePoint and Active Directory. Since the move they’ve had no outages tied to storage, eliminated nearly 80 admin hours a year on firmware cycles, reduced datacenter rack space by 5:1, improved capacity planning, and regained IT capacity to deliver new services.
