A Nutanix Case Study
The Granada Provincial Council, which provides technical, economic and IT support to 166 municipalities in the province (most of them small), needed to centralize and modernize a distributed network of some 300 nodes after a 2016 law required expanded electronic services. Its existing mix of physical servers, virtualization and external storage couldn’t scale to deliver full e‑government services, ensure fast recovery, or reduce the travel and complexity involved in supporting many small towns.
Beginning in 2018–19 the council rebuilt its platform on a Nutanix hyperconverged stack—deploying AHV, Prism, Nutanix Mine, Unified Storage and Nutanix Database Service across a general-purpose virtualization cluster (with resilient NAS), a dedicated Oracle cluster and a backup/object storage solution. The result was a simplified, more efficient infrastructure with multiplied compute capacity, optimized energy use, near‑zero downtime and sub‑hour recovery goals, dramatically easier unstructured data management and a migration completed practically in one afternoon—positioning the council for hybrid/multicloud growth and Smart Province initiatives.
