The City of Westfield, MA — a municipal hub supporting 33 remote sites, 2,500 end users and 5,800 students — faced an end-of-life HP blade and EVA storage environment running VMware that needed a refresh to maintain performance and manage rising operational costs. The IT team required a compact, reliable platform to host mission-critical applications (including financial systems) and simplify day-to-day management.

They deployed a Nutanix NX-3060-G4 Series with Nutanix Prism, bringing dozens of VMs onto a 2U footprint in place of half a rack and powering down four of six legacy blades. Deployment was fast (some VMs live in under three hours; full migration in about four weeks) and delivered tangible benefits: 5–10x faster financial reports, 2–3 hours cut from nightly backups, reduced VMware licensing and maintenance, seamless non‑disruptive upgrades, improved visibility and faster restores — enabling new services and shared disaster‑recovery plans.
