A Nutanix Case Study
The Texas A&M University System, a large higher-education network serving over 140,000 students, faced performance, reliability and management headaches from a legacy SAN and physical-server environment while its central IT team was downsized. Frequent troubleshooting, multiple management consoles and costly hypervisor and backup licensing made routine operations and growth difficult for the small ITS staff.
The System Offices migrated to the Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform (NX-2000/3000) and the Acropolis Hypervisor, managed with Nutanix Prism, enabling a 15-minute deployment and one-click upgrades. The move eliminated annual hypervisor and backup licensing costs (saving tens of thousands of dollars), shrank the datacenter footprint from four racks to a single 2U appliance, simplified management for a two-person team, and improved disaster recovery with hourly replication and RPO/RTO of about an hour.
