Spreadtrum Adopts Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform for VDI

Spreadtrum Communications, a fabless semiconductor company, needed a secure, scalable virtual desktop infrastructure to protect valuable IP and improve collaboration among growing R&D teams as chip designs grew more complex. Traditional three‑tier architectures couldn’t meet its needs for performance, security, and predictable cost, so the IT team sought an alternative that would support fast deployment and easy scaling.

Spreadtrum adopted the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform, a hyperconverged, scale‑out solution, deploying four nodes initially and expanding to 27 nodes in a second phase; the platform went into production in three days. The change simplified management, shortened response times, enabled non‑disruptive scaling, improved desktop standardization and cross‑site collaboration, and delivered a 10–15% increase in overall operational efficiency, with plans to add GPUs and further expand capacity.
