Shenzhen Airlines Cargo Chooses Web-Scale Architecture for Mission-Critical Operations

Shenzhen Airlines Cargo, a major Chinese air-freight operator with a nationwide network and over 100 aircraft, needed higher availability and faster performance for its mission-critical IT systems to support 24x7 operations. Its legacy server and storage infrastructure was complex and inefficient, and IT planned virtualization and storage upgrades but sought a simpler, easier-to-manage approach.

The airline deployed Nutanix NX-3000 hyperconverged appliances with VMware vSphere to virtualize core apps (OA, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and web systems). After a fast rollout, report generation time fell from 90 minutes to under 20 (≈80% faster), datacenter footprint and power use dropped by 50%, management effort was greatly reduced, and system availability improved thanks to Nutanix’s distributed, self-healing storage—enabling plans to expand the platform for disaster recovery.
