A Nutanix Case Study

Scania Uses Nutanix to Proactively Manage IT to Improve Customer Service

Scania Southern Africa, the regional arm of global truck and bus manufacturer Scania, needed to improve customer-facing services that rely on remote monitoring and a Citrix VDI environment. With a small IT team, growing firefighting demands, bandwidth constraints and rising infrastructure costs, the company ran a proof of concept to find an easy-to-manage, scalable solution that would stabilize and simplify its operations.

Scania deployed a Dell EMC XC Series all‑flash cluster running Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS to host its Citrix (XenDesktop/XenApp) VDI and backend services. The hyperconverged solution improved uptime, reduced bandwidth needs and cut operational effort—support tickets fell from ~80 to 15, VDI boot times dropped from 1:30 to 18 seconds, SQL/query and media streaming performance improved, and the team now plans a wider Nutanix rollout.
