Saiseikai Kumamoto Hospital - Customer Case Study

Saiseikai Kumamoto Hospital is a 400-bed acute care hospital in Kumamoto City with about 1,900 staff that provides 24-hour emergency, advanced, local/preventive care and medical training. After migrating more than 100 departmental systems into a virtual environment, storage-controller performance and scalability degraded under high load (e.g., backups), causing slow application response and prompting a search for a highly scalable, non-disruptive platform that would avoid frequent forklift upgrades and be resilient to hardware end-of-life.

The hospital deployed the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform (NX‑3000 Series) with VMware ESXi, adopting a hyperconverged architecture that lets teams add nodes non-disruptively and mix server generations in one cluster. Results include consolidation of three infrastructure layers into a single appliance, a two‑thirds reduction in rack space, noticeably faster system responsiveness and OS boot times cut by more than 50%, longer system lifecycles without app rebuilds, and simplified future scaling and cloud-readiness.
