Ruffalo Noel Levitz Gains ‘Peace of Mind’ with Move to Nutanix

Ruffalo Noel Levitz (RNL), a provider of enrollment management, retention and fundraising software to nearly 2,000 colleges and nonprofits, was struggling with a fragmented, aging infrastructure—Dell hosts, NetApp SANs and nine Windows file servers—that drove up costs, slowed provisioning and made restores and scale difficult. Rising public cloud bills for developer workloads and VMware licensing added further expense and complexity.

RNL migrated over 200 TB to Nutanix Enterprise Cloud—deploying multiple Nutanix clusters, moving to the AHV hypervisor, and adopting Nutanix Files and Volumes—using Xtract for easy migration. The result: server cloning dropped from 30–45 minutes to 1–2 minutes, developers regain cloud-like speed on-premises, hundreds of dev servers were pulled back from AWS to save costs, VMware licensing fees were eliminated, management was simplified, and IT gained greater reliability and “peace of mind.”
