A Nutanix Case Study
Robert Gordon University needed to extend its end-user computing capabilities to support demanding remote users, including engineering and architecture students and graduate apprentices. Their existing EUC platform was complex to manage and required client software, making remote support a daunting and time-consuming task. This challenge became even more pressing with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The university turned to vendor Nutanix for a solution using its Frame desktop-as-a-service platform.
Nutanix Frame provided a cloud-native solution hosted on-premise on a Nutanix cluster, eliminating the need for client software by allowing access through a web browser. The implementation was completed in just days by staff with no prior experience, and it consolidated management into a single console. The results were significant, with application deployment time reduced from weeks to hours and a dramatic drop in support calls from even the most demanding users.
