A Nutanix Case Study
Radford College, an Australian K-12 school, needed to replace an ageing, complex three-tier IT infrastructure that was difficult to manage, costly to upgrade, and lacked strong disaster recovery support. Working with Nutanix, the college looked for a simpler, more flexible platform to support its learning management system, administration systems, and Microsoft SQL Server workloads.
Nutanix implemented a four-node Nutanix cluster using Nutanix AHV and Nutanix Prism, later expanding it for stronger DR capabilities and exploring Nutanix Xi Frame for lab desktops. The result was a reduction in IT management costs of AU$150,000-$200,000 per year, about AU$40,000 in annual power savings, improved daily backup and recovery protection, and a successful transition to remote learning during COVID-19 lockdowns.
