A Nutanix Case Study
Radford College, a prestigious independent school in Canberra, faced significant IT challenges due to its complex and aging three-tier infrastructure. The system was difficult to manage, required expensive consultants for upgrades, and lacked robust disaster recovery capabilities, which posed an unacceptable risk of disruption to the school day. To overcome this, the college engaged Nutanix to implement a hyperconverged infrastructure solution.
Nutanix, deployed with partner Qirx, provided a four-node cluster running the AHV hypervisor and Prism management software. This solution simplified IT management, eliminated the need for upgrade consultants, and established a robust disaster recovery policy with daily snapshots. The implementation resulted in annual management cost savings of AU$150,000-$200,000 and reduced power expenses by AU$40,000. Furthermore, the Nutanix platform provided the scalability needed to seamlessly support remote learning during the COVID-19 lockdown and laid the foundation for a future hybrid cloud strategy.
