Provinzial Insurance Transforms Application Landscape with Red Hat OpenShift and Nutanix Cloud Platform

Provinzial, one of Germany’s largest public insurers with more than five million customers and around 12,500 employees, set out to modernize its application landscape by moving core and new container-based applications off legacy systems onto Kubernetes. The challenge was to deploy a cloud-native infrastructure that met strict requirements for security, availability and scalability so the company could deliver innovative services reliably to thousands of sales partners and millions of customers.

Provinzial implemented Red Hat OpenShift on the Nutanix Cloud Platform (AHV, Prism, Files, CSI), running multiple clusters across data centers and automating operations with Ansible and Prism APIs. The result is fast, on-demand scalability, strong resilience and unified visibility—clusters can be provisioned with a button, recover from failures in hours, and use integrated persistent storage—while close vendor support and GPU-enabled nodes now accelerate AI workloads with Kubeflow.
