Penn National Insurance Deploys Nutanix Hybrid Multicloud Platform Across On-Prem and AWS

Penn National Insurance, working with Nutanix, needed a simpler, more resilient way to support virtual desktops, disaster recovery, and hybrid operations across its on-premises environment and AWS. The company wanted to reduce the complexity of its legacy 3-tier infrastructure, speed up recovery, and make it easier for employees to work remotely with Nutanix Cloud Clusters and related Nutanix software.

Nutanix implemented a hybrid multicloud platform spanning on-prem and AWS, using Prism, Nutanix Cloud Clusters, Era (NDB), and Flow. As a result, Penn National Insurance cut disaster recovery time from several days to under two hours, completed AWS testing in one day, upgraded environments in hours instead of months, and created SQL clones in minutes. The company also reduced capital and operating costs, saved thousands annually on licenses, and was able to support a rapid one-day shift to 100% work-from-home during the pandemic.
