Oryx Petroleum, a Swiss-based oil exploration and production company, needed to replace end-of-life infrastructure that was too slow, too expensive to run, and unable to keep up with growing storage and performance demands for seismic analysis and real-time simulation. The company turned to Nutanix Enterprise Cloud, including the AHV hypervisor and Prism management console, to simplify operations and support future growth.

Nutanix implemented a four-node all-flash Nutanix Enterprise Cloud cluster in Oryx Petroleum’s Geneva data center, enabling the migration of 65 virtual machines in just a few days. The results were significant: simulations that took two days now finish in a few hours, storage snapshots dropped from 4–5 minutes to 1–2 seconds, and the overall solution cost about 20% of a like-for-like legacy upgrade, with payback expected in under five years.
