Nutanix Supports GAC Fiat Chrysler Automobile Sales’ Successful Trial of Hyperconverged Solutions

GAC Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Sales Co., Ltd. (GAC FCA), a Shanghai‑based joint venture selling Jeep, Fiat, Chrysler and Dodge vehicles in China, needed a modern IT platform to support rapid business launches, handle more than 400 servers, and overcome office space and disaster‑recovery constraints. With no legacy infrastructure but tight timelines, headcount and datacenter footprint, the IT team’s priority was to streamline operations, cut costs and ensure scalable, highly available systems.

GAC FCA evaluated and deployed the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud hyperconverged platform, moving core applications (SAP, DMS, VDI, Exchange, data warehousing, etc.) onto a single, scalable system that maintains >50% spare capacity and tolerates multiple node failures. The result: average resource delivery times under 30 minutes, dramatic reductions in datacenter space, power and peripheral software needs, a sharp drop in O&M headcount (from six for 200 servers to two for 400), and a mixed‑cloud operating cost of about RMB 6 million (~$1M) per year while supporting 50 business systems.
