The Gerencia de Informática de la Seguridad Social (GISS), the IT service supporting Spain’s Social Security, faced an urgent COVID-19 challenge: rapidly enable thousands of employees to work remotely so public services to citizens could continue. With lockdowns imminent, GISS needed a secure, scalable remote-work platform deployed in days rather than months.

GISS chose Nutanix technology—Acropolis, Prism, Files and Flow—working with Lenovo, Citrix, Telefónica and Einzelnet to deploy a temporary platform for 300 users on day one and scale to 3,000 within 15 days. The hyperconverged solution delivered fast, secure remote access, unified monitoring, reduced duplication and information silos, and proved adaptable moving from hybrid to private cloud while enabling the IT team to operate the environment efficiently.
