Nutanix Oils the Path to Hyperconvergence at WD-40 EMEIA

WD-40’s EMEIA headquarters needed to modernise its Milton Keynes data centre as part of a digital transformation to virtualise additional business‑critical workloads and boost performance. The team faced tight rack space and wanted full Microsoft Hyper‑V support, but a traditional 3‑tier refresh would have consumed all spare rack capacity, added storage/SAN complexity and increased management overhead.

WD‑40 deployed the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud (NX‑3000) running Hyper‑V, a 2U hyperconverged appliance that plugged into existing 10GbE switches; installation took about 2.5 hours and migrations were completed in days. The cluster now runs 52 VMs (Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, file/print and dev/test), uses just over half of 30TB capacity, cut power and cooling by 41%, reduced imaging times from three hours to under one, shrank rack footprint and provided single‑pane management via Prism—enabling further consolidation and DR/ERP planning.
