Case Study: Royal Opera House achieves lower IT costs and simpler cloud integration with Nutanix

A Nutanix Case Study

Nutanix inspires Royal Opera House IT performance to save more than a few tenors

The Royal Opera House, London’s only permanent home for opera and ballet, needed to modernise its IT after a major building upgrade and an earlier infrastructure refresh had left it with a functional but inflexible setup. It wanted a solution that was easier to manage, cost-effective, secure, and ready to integrate with cloud services, but as a publicly funded organisation it also had to stay affordable. Nutanix was selected as part of the evaluation process alongside cloud options and other hardware alternatives.

Nutanix, implemented with partner ET Works, delivered a combined on-premises and disaster recovery solution using Nutanix NX infrastructure and Rubrik-powered DRaaS. The Royal Opera House moved its production environment to a private cloud in Farnborough, reducing its on-prem footprint and gaining a lower total cost of ownership than public cloud alone, plus clear pricing for future growth. The four-node Nutanix setup supported around 30TB with 25% headroom, and the installation, testing, and migration were completed smoothly.
