A Nutanix Case Study
Lenoir City Utilities Board (LCUB), the sixth-largest municipal utility in Tennessee, needed to modernize a legacy VMware/SAN environment that was running near full capacity. With growing data demands for water, electric, wastewater and gas services and a requirement for 24x7 availability, LCUB sought better performance, redundancy and simpler management without extended downtime.
LCUB deployed Nutanix hyper-converged clusters (NX-3050 and NX-7110), leveraging SSD tiers and Nutanix Prism for management to migrate ~10TB of servers quickly. The move delivered a measured 20x performance boost for virtual servers and production SQL databases, enabled non‑disruptive upgrades and easy datacenter replication for disaster recovery (with dedupe cutting bandwidth needs), and reduced operational expenses by roughly two-thirds.
