A Nutanix Case Study
Shanghai Mental Health Center, China’s largest mental health hospital (founded 1935, ~1,800 beds), faced mounting IT challenges as it expanded digital healthcare and research. Its legacy three‑tier infrastructure was complex, costly to operate, hard to scale, and left files and images siloed—creating risks for long‑term medical record preservation, data sharing, and secure management of growing research datasets.
To modernize, the center deployed a Nutanix hyperconverged private cloud (Enterprise Cloud OS, Prism Pro, Nutanix Files), starting with four nodes and scaling as needs grew. The unified platform centralized 250+ TB of data, simplified operations, and accelerated capacity growth; outcomes included 15–20% lower IT management and maintenance costs, 30–35% faster storage expansion, improved virtualization support, and a scalable foundation for online healthcare, research expansion, disaster recovery and analytics.
