A Nutanix Case Study
SAIC Volkswagen, a large Sino‑German auto joint venture, faced rising IT complexity as it supported R&D, manufacturing, logistics, sales and after‑sales services across two datacenters and a growing disaster‑recovery site. Legacy Unix servers, hundreds of web and application servers (over 1,000 total), and a scale‑up procurement model led to high management costs, poor resource utilization and slow response times to business needs.
SAIC Volkswagen piloted and deployed a Nutanix Enterprise Cloud (seven NX‑1065 nodes) on standard x86 hardware, adopting a hyper‑converged private cloud. The result was rapid roll‑out (environments ready in under a day), much faster provisioning and upgrades (from two days down to one–two hours), significant space savings (4U vs ~20U), and freed IT capacity—allowing a 20‑person team to better focus on application innovation while keeping the platform easily scalable for future growth.
