A Nutanix Case Study
Gulf Stevedoring Contracting Company (GSCCO), which operates three major container and bulk terminals in Saudi Arabia, needed to modernize end-of-life, three‑tier infrastructure to support the government’s Saudi Vision 2030 and a predicted surge in container traffic. The IT team required a scalable, resilient, easy‑to‑manage platform that would virtualize workloads, centralize management across sites, and allow upgrades without service disruption.
GSCCO deployed Nutanix Enterprise Cloud in two phases—a primary on‑prem cluster to virtualize workloads and retire legacy hardware, plus a second cluster at Jeddah for snapshot replication and disaster recovery—managed from a single Prism console. The move enabled a 50% increase in container volumes with zero downtime during upgrades, faster scaling (adding nodes in hours), ~15% OpEx savings, 1.5 fewer racks of equipment, improved failover/resiliency, and quicker rollout of key systems like Navis N4 and EmPower.
