Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Enables Presence Health to Improve Healthcare Delivery

Presence Health, one of Illinois’ largest Catholic health systems with 150+ locations (including 12 hospitals) serving millions annually, relied on two EMR platforms (MEDITECH and Epic) plus Citrix to deliver clinical access. Facing aging infrastructure, long procurement and deployment cycles, and the need to improve reliability and disaster recovery to protect patient care, IT set out to simplify and standardize its data center environment.

The organization standardized on Nutanix Enterprise Cloud, migrating Epic Hyperspace and consolidating six racks into just 16 RU while using LoginVSI tuning to boost performance and add capacity for roughly 1,000 more users with no downtime. As a result, infrastructure deployment time fell from 1.5 months to three days, Epic response-time exceptions dropped from 0.8% to 0.4%, and overall resiliency, scalability, and clinician experience were significantly improved—enabling faster roll‑out of new practices and more reliable support for critical workflows like barcode medication administration.
