Nutanix Chosen for Secure Platform to Enable Advanced Work Styles

Nomura Research Institute (NRI), Japan’s largest IT solutions provider, needed a secure, scalable platform to support advanced work styles as part of its IT Medium-term Plan 2022. Its existing VDI/thin‑client setup created data-integrity and management burdens, slow boot/login times, and inflexibility for application-specific environments, while a traditional 3‑tier refresh would be complex and slow to deploy.

NRI chose Citrix XenDesktop with Windows 10 for VDI and deployed the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform as a hyperconverged foundation to avoid vendor lock‑in and enable fast, online scaling. The team built a 1,000‑user VDI at headquarters with “standard” and “individual” desktops (plus iPad access for managers); deployment time and man‑hours fell to roughly one quarter (from ~6 man‑months to ~2 weeks), boot/shutdown times were cut by more than half, logins stayed under one minute in load tests, and centralized Nutanix management dramatically reduced operational effort.
