Case Study: Shofu achieves streamlined server management and 87% faster PC provisioning with Nutanix

A Nutanix Case Study

Preview of the Shofu Case Study

Nutanix and Lenovo pairs up to help Shofu, Japan’s dental equipment manufacturer, reduce IT burdens, drop overtime hours and eliminate working during holidays

Shofu, a Japanese manufacturer of dental materials and equipment, had become increasingly digital with CAD/CAM systems and 3D scanners but was running a traditional three-tier server infrastructure. Its Information Systems Office faced time-consuming server maintenance, poor monitoring that delayed outage detection, and a laborious annual PC refresh (about 150 PCs) that occupied two staff for three months and led to overtime.

Shofu deployed Lenovo ThinkAgile HX appliances with the Nutanix Cloud Platform (AHV), Nutanix Cloud Manager and Unified Storage, plus Lenovo XClarity for remote control, to automate management and provide a single operational dashboard. The new solution enabled remote reboots and proactive alerts, cut PC provisioning from two days to about one hour (87% faster), saved roughly three months of IT work annually, improved application performance, and moved from daily tape backups to multiple intra-day snapshots for better business continuity.
