A Nutanix Case Study
Mitsui Sumitomo Aioi Life Insurance, a key life insurer in the MS&AD Insurance Group, needed to refresh its aging datacenter infrastructure for mission-critical insurance and call center systems. The company faced high CAPEX every 5–6 years, long setup times for its 3-tier environment, and the need for stronger security, availability, and scalability to protect sensitive personal information. It chose Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS and Nutanix NX Series to modernize the platform.
Nutanix implemented a hyperconverged infrastructure with multiple clusters and replication for redundancy, plus test/development capacity and plans for disaster recovery. The results included estimated infrastructure cost savings of up to 40%, virtual server production time reduced to about one-third, and faster, more intuitive operations through Nutanix Prism. Mitsui Sumitomo Aioi Life Insurance also gained cloud-like flexibility and improved the efficiency and skills of its internal staff with Nutanix.
