Migration to Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure enables university do more with less

Canterbury Christ Church University, which supports about 18,000 students and 1,800 staff, needed to refresh critical IT systems including finance, virtual learning, student records, and web services, but faced a budget shortfall for new servers and storage. The university turned to Nutanix, using a hyperconverged platform to find a more affordable way to modernize its infrastructure without compromising day-to-day operations.

Nutanix, implemented on Lenovo ThinkAgile HX servers with VMware vSphere, helped the university consolidate 14 racks of blade chassis and storage arrays into just two half-rack units across its data centres. The result was lower power and cooling usage, simpler management, stronger resilience with built-in replication and failover, and no reported performance issues; even during a power outage, 90% of users saw no disruption.
