Mellanox Technologies and Nutanix — The Perfect Partnership

Mellanox, a leading supplier of Ethernet and InfiniBand interconnect solutions, needed a more reliable, space- and resource-efficient IT platform for its manufacturing site to support mission‑critical applications. The legacy 3‑tier setup—multiple servers with active‑standby pairs and centralized storage—was slow to deploy, required heavy maintenance, forced manual failovers, and couldn’t scale easily as production volumes grew.

Mellanox deployed a Nutanix NX-1065 hyperconverged appliance paired with Mellanox SX1012 top-of-rack switches, consolidating the environment into a 2U footprint and enabling full automation via Nutanix Prism. The new solution cut deployment time from days to about two hours, reduced rack space by roughly threefold, simplified centralized VM management and backups, automated HA and hypervisor upgrades, and improved overall availability and operational efficiency.
