MBB Radiology Images a Brighter Future with Web-Scale Converged Infrastructure

Mori Bean & Brooks (MBB) Radiology provides 24/7 radiology services for 17 facilities across Florida and Georgia, reading more than 1 million studies a year. As their VMware/Citrix virtual environment aged, storage and server refresh costs were high and key applications—especially Merge PACS and Merge RIS—were showing degraded performance and frequent downtime, prompting a search for a more cost-effective, reliable platform.

MBB deployed Nutanix web-scale converged infrastructure, scaling to 10 NX-3050 nodes and migrating its virtual machines to the integrated compute/storage appliances. The change delivered more than 50% better application performance, eliminated downtime for PACS, RIS and financial systems, cut datacenter footprint and power by 4:1, reduced storage management time to zero, and cost roughly one-third of a traditional server-plus-storage refresh.
