Local authority eases IT pains with move to Nutanix AHV

Shropshire Council, a UK public sector local authority, was struggling with aging, fragmented IT infrastructure that left compute and storage on different refresh cycles and created support headaches for its 2,600 staff and public services. To address budget pressure and reliability issues, the council evaluated hyperconverged infrastructure and chose Nutanix, including Nutanix AHV and related management tools.

Nutanix implemented a consolidated platform using Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform, AOS, Prism, and Move migration, helping Shropshire Council replace six cabinets of legacy hardware with eleven nodes in a single cabinet. The change is expected to save at least 45 MWh of electricity and cooling per year, or about £5,400 annually, while also simplifying migration, reducing licensing costs, and improving management and reliability.
