LKAB runs 1,076 VMs and 170 TB on Nutanix

LKAB, a European iron ore mining company, faced challenges with its traditional IT infrastructure, which was running out of storage and adding management complexity. Their initial attempt with a different converged infrastructure solution was expensive and failed to provide the needed scalability. This led them to seek a new solution from vendor Nutanix.

Nutanix implemented its hyperconverged infrastructure, providing LKAB with on-premises systems that deliver cloud-like performance, availability, and scalability. The solution drastically simplified management through a centralized console and eliminated the risk of vendor lock-in. As a result, LKAB now runs its production, development, and VDI environments on Nutanix, managing over 1,000 virtual machines and 170 terabytes of storage efficiently.
