Lion Group trusts in Nutanix to build private cloud for new group-wide HR system

Lion Group, a diversified Malaysian conglomerate with about RM20 billion in annual turnover and more than 24,000 employees, needed to consolidate disparate IT systems across its operating companies. Group CIO Vincent Lim chose to start with a group-wide Oracle PeopleSoft HR rollout for roughly 21,000 employees, but faced concerns about public cloud security and the complexity and cost of building a private cloud on traditional server/storage platforms.

Lion Group partnered with Nutanix and local integrator VCP to deploy a Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform (4 nodes, 20 TB) in a colocation datacenter running Microsoft Hyper-V, delivering a secure, scalable private cloud with single-pane management (PRISM) and System Center integration. The deployment delivered the PeopleSoft rollout successfully, simplified operations and remote management, and reduced costs by replacing a proposed RM1 million capital investment with an RM300,000/year outsourcing model (about a 30% saving), while enabling easy scale-up for future applications.
