A Nutanix Case Study
Kuwait Investment Company (KIC), a regional investment bank, faced an urgent datacenter refresh as a mix of industry-standard and legacy platforms reached end of life. The ageing infrastructure and SAN complexity impeded adoption of modern software and virtualization, while the company needed a safe path to migrate its core banking application from AIX/UNIX to a supported x86/Linux environment and upgrade its Oracle database.
KIC ran a proof-of-concept with partner FutureTec and chose the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform on Intel Xeon, virtualizing Windows workloads first and then migrating core banking to Red Hat Linux on vSphere, plus an Oracle upgrade and a browser-based front end. The rollout cut end-of-business processing from 3.5 hours to 18 minutes (91% reduction), slashed critical reporting times by up to 80%, reduced rack space from three cabinets to one (66% reduction), lowered power and cooling costs, and simplified management with a single-pane infrastructure — freeing staff for higher-value work and enabling future services like online trading.
