Kyushu Institute of Technology scales remote learning with Nutanix and allocates 90% of server resources to Moodle

The Kyushu Institute of Technology, a national university in Japan, faced the challenge of modernizing its aging educational IT infrastructure. Its old system was confined to on-campus computers and required an upgrade to support a new BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy. Furthermore, the university needed to consolidate numerous independently managed departmental systems while ensuring 100% uptime. To solve this, they turned to the Nutanix Cloud Platform.

Nutanix provided a software-defined hyper-converged infrastructure that consolidated the university's e-learning platform and other departmental systems onto a single, easy-to-manage environment. This solution enabled a successful BYOD program, allowing students to access educational resources from their own devices. The performance and reliability improved significantly, which proved critical when the university quickly scaled the system to support full remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Nutanix platform also reduced the need for specialized hardware and simplified system procurement and expansion.
