Keio University Selects Nutanix as Optimal Virtualization Platform

Keio University, a multi-campus private university with an affiliated hospital in Tokyo, faced fragmented IT operations across campus IT centers and the hospital—legacy three‑tier and blade-server virtual environments suffered disk failures, scaling limits, high licensing and management overhead, and required service shutdowns for maintenance. With limited staff and growing research, education and clinical workloads, the university sought a fault‑tolerant, easily scalable platform that simplified operations and reduced cost.

Keio selected Nutanix Enterprise Cloud (including AHV, Prism and Nutanix‑powered NX, Dell EMC XC and Lenovo HX appliances) to standardize virtualization across sites. The result was a unified, low‑maintenance environment with faster system response (internal processing largely cut to less than half), instant snapshots, simplified management, eliminated hypervisor licensing fees, halved rack space, and the ability to upgrade and expand without service downtime as the university scales toward hundreds of VMs.
