A Nutanix Case Study
Jabil, a global contract manufacturer with about 150,000 employees and 35 datacenters worldwide, needed faster, more scalable IT infrastructure to keep pace with rapid growth and acquisitions. Although the company had already virtualized roughly 4,500 servers, IT teams struggled to scale, consolidate the datacenter footprint, and deliver new server capacity quickly while automating routine processes.
Jabil built a private cloud on Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Hyper‑V, System Center and Windows Azure Pack) running on a Microsoft‑validated Nutanix hyper‑converged platform, deployed with help from Infront Consulting. The solution — planned to include 156 Nutanix nodes hosting about 4,300 VMs across 35 sites — cuts deployment time (Nutanix environments in ~30 minutes; Hyper‑V hosts in ~1 hour), reduces rack space and physical hosts (>25%), avoids roughly $500K in costs (~40% infrastructure CAPEX savings), and delivers faster, automated server provisioning with improved performance for I/O‑heavy workloads.
