How Zero Trust Architecture Protects Government Data and Networks

The State of Georgia, led by CIO and CISO Bill Wyatt in the Office of the State Treasurer, needed a stronger security model after recognizing that traditional defenses were no longer enough to protect government data and networks. To reduce risk and support a move toward zero trust architecture, the state also needed to modernize its infrastructure and replace a fragmented, costly environment. Nutanix software was part of the foundation used to make that shift.

Nutanix helped the State of Georgia move to a cloud-based, hybrid infrastructure with a single support model and lower costs after moving off VMware. The new setup gave the state the flexibility and security needed to implement zero trust controls, including stronger identity protection and password-less systems. By consolidating support under Nutanix and improving the core architecture, the state improved security, simplified operations, and reduced risk across $28 billion in assets.
