Holcim Group, a global leader in construction materials with a public commitment to become a Net Zero company, needed to modernize aging virtualization, storage, firewall and backup systems that support 30,000+ users across 53 EMEA countries. The IT team’s goals were to deliver innovative services to offices, plants and dispatch centers at the edge, improve availability and security, reduce power consumption and carbon emissions, and enable scalable, standardized ROBO/edge deployments.

Holcim implemented a Nutanix hyperconverged platform on Lenovo HX servers with Cisco networking and Firepower firewalls and Druva SaaS backup, deploying 3‑node clusters managed from a single console and supported by SCC España. The new solution simplified operations and automated patching, removed storage single points of failure, delivered pay‑as‑you‑grow cost and energy savings, accelerated cloud migration (now ~60% of apps) and created a scalable foundation for future AI/ML initiatives like the “Plants of Tomorrow.”
